sanna house with kitchen / lounge / dining / extension, westmuir
Gary's design for the Sanna House property was constructed in 1999 on the southern edge of the village of Westmuir.
The new build dwelling house incorporates a fully open plan 1800 sq.ft living area on the ground floor providing three separate lounge spaces, both formal and informal dining areas and garden kitchen to take full advantage of the 270 degree views over the Vale of Strathmore to the south, east and west.
Careful design of windows and glazed door openings maximises the use of natural daylighting through the house allowing the interior to spill out into the surrounding garden and the wider landscape vista beyond.
The original four bedroom house was extended in 2013 with the addition of a 600 sq.ft. single storey kitchen / dining / and lounge space connecting the main house and the existing double garage; the extension is a super insulated double skin timber frame with locally sourced Scotlarch timber cladding as an external finish.
The new space allows level access to the new sunken garden terrace and takes full advantage of the south western aspect to the garden through three sets of glazed terrace doors.
